John Barratt
John Barratt is the founder and president of Natural Carbon LLC, a business development firm dedicated to accelerating the adoption of new technologies in the energy industry. Working on behalf of technology companies, Natural Carbon develops strategic partnerships, marketing relationships and related business structures with larger, established enterprises in the energy industry. Natural Carbon also offers advisory services to venture funds, private equity funds and corporate clients seeking opportunities in the energy technology sector.
John has over twenty years of senior management and technical expertise in the energy industry. He was a Senior Vice President at an independent power company where he oversaw business development, finance and marketing operations. He further developed his broad operational and financial expertise while working on successive financings with leading Wall Street investment banks such as Goldman Sachs, Rothschilds and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
Previously, John held finance, corporate development and technical positions in the petroleum industry with Unocal, Union Pacific Resources and Bass Enterprises Production Company, one of the largest privately-held petroleum companies in the U.S.
As an invited speaker, he has delivered presentations at industry conferences and he has authored articles for leading industry publications. John holds a B.S. from Oregon State University, an M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
