Mark Gilles
Mark Gilles brings a broad range of experience working with middle market companies, including that of private equity investor, board member and operating executive. Mark was a founding Principal of Tangent Growth Fund L.P., a San Francisco based mezzanine fund. As a Principal of Tangent Growth Fund, and its sister fund Tangent Fund Management II, L.P. Mark focused on growth investments and buyout transactions, providing strategic and operating assistance to portfolio companies.
Recognizing that middle market companies often lacked the internal capability to define a strategic path or to drive operational results, Mark launched Tangent Advisors. Tangent Advisors brings a unique solution set of operational expertise, and capital to businesses in transition. Tangent Advisors assisted the largest privately held cellular telephone distribution company manage its relationship with its key supplier that ultimately led to a $5 Million equity investment from the supplier, and restructuring of over $130 Million in debt. Mark is presently a board member of Comptech, USA, an automotive after-market products company, and he also is a Fellow of eCoaching Technology.
Mark began his career with Coopers and Lybrand, now Price Waterhouse-Coopers, in San Francisco. Mark then worked in high tech and middle market commercial lending with major California Banks such as Union Bank, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America prior to founding Tangent. He is a CPA, a member of the California Institute of CPA's and has long been active in non-profit organizations, serving for 10 years with Hope Rehabilitation Service in Santa Clara, California. and for three years with Peninsula Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Palo Alto, California.
